From Chaos to Consistency - Figma Styles for Designers and Developers
A lot of times I have gone through Figma design files where styles (texts, colours, effects...) are not used in the projects and in trying to collaborate with other designers I just get lost on...
Ownership cuts both ways
Designers are respected and given responsibility now. Living up to it means design files that match production code and hand off smoothly to engineers.
Unstyled files break at scale
Under ~20 screens you can wing it. A real 80-screen project with nine typeface families and zero styles is what 'later' looks like, for the designer and the developer.
A style is a set of constraints you stick to
Figma's definition is 'reusable collections of properties'; Steph Ango's is tighter: constraints you commit to. Both mean: decide once, reuse everywhere.
The payoff compounds
Consistency, efficiency, collaboration, reusability, scalability, branding, maintenance, fewer errors. One style sheet buys all eight.
Start aconversation.
Hiring, building, or just curious: I read everything.
One person, end to end.
